Climbing Snowdon in the heart of winter is no small feat — but every step taken on the Snowdon Gaza Winter Hike carries a purpose far greater than the mountain itself. Each hiker takes on the challenge not just for the adventure, but to help provide meals for children in need across Palestine.

Meet Unaisah Mangera, one of our incredible hikers, who turned her personal challenge into a mission of hope. Her journey with Charity Right and Muslim Hikers shows how courage, community, and compassion come together on this unforgettable climb.

When I first signed up for the Snowdon Hike in 2023 with Charity Right and Muslim Hikers, I honestly didn’t know what to expect. I had never done anything so physically demanding before, and the idea of climbing a mountain felt completely out of my comfort zone. But I wanted to challenge myself and, more importantly, I wanted to do something meaningful for the people of Palestine.

The 2023 hike was intense. The weather was wild and windy, and we couldn’t make it all the way to the top. But despite that, the atmosphere was incredible. Everyone was so supportive; strangers quickly became teammates, and the energy and unity carried us forward.

When I returned for the 2024 hike, again in partnership with Charity Right and Muslim Hikers, I was determined to make it to the summit. The weather was clearer and cool at the bottom, but as we climbed higher, the air grew colder, the ground turned frosty, and the path became dusted in snow. Reaching the top felt surreal, like emerging into a new world. Being part of the first group to make it to the summit was such a proud and humbling moment.

It was a huge accomplishment for me, knowing I had stepped outside my comfort zone and done something for a good cause. Each step reminded me of the struggles faced by the people of Palestine, and that thought kept me going when things got tough. Last year, we raised an incredible £65,000, providing over 130,000 meals to feed children in need. That’s what made it mean so much more. It wasn’t just a physical journey; it was deeply emotional, purposeful, and part of something greater.

I look forward to going again. For anyone thinking about joining the next Snowdon Gaza Winter Hike with Charity Right and Muslim Hikers, go for it. Even if it feels daunting, you’ll discover strength, community, and purpose in the most unexpected ways.

Stories like Unaisah’s remind us that the Snowdon Gaza Winter Hike is more than a climb — it’s a movement of unity and purpose. With every step, we raise vital funds to deliver meals and hope to those who need it most.

This December, you can be part of that impact. Join us on 20th December for the Snowdon Gaza Winter Hike with Charity Right and Muslim Hikers, and make your steps count for Palestine.
