Pakistan, Sudan, Ethiopia, Malawi, Bangladesh, Afghanistan… Charity Right’s reach is spreading and we’re helping thousands more each year.
And now we’re heading in an exciting new direction in Yemen!
Over half of Yemen’s population live in poverty, with over 16 million suffering from food insecurity and going hungry every day. The national life expectancy is 14 years younger than the average in the US, largely because of malnourishment and infectious diseases plaguing the country.
But thanks to your generous donations, Charity Right have been offering food packs to give families the help and chance they desperately need. We alleviated the worry of where the next meal was coming from and helped change the lives of many families.
But that’s all changing now. Family food packs were incredibly helpful to hundreds of families, but it’s only a temporary measure. Charity Right are looking to change their chances forever with school meals.
Because of its ongoing conflicts, the children of Yemen have been forgotten. Over 8 million children are unable to go to school and suffer from food insecurity and malnutrition. With no chance of education and never knowing where the next meal is coming from, they need help now more than ever.
Too many families need their children to work for extra income instead of going to school. But by offering school meals, it’s an incentive for parents to send their children to school. The education they receive give them the chances their parents never had, getting one step closer to breaking the cycle of poverty.
We’re so excited to be shifting from food packs to school meals. This change in direction is brand new for us in Yemen and is sure to have a huge impact on the future chances of communities around the country!
