There are lots of words you can use to describe 2022… but ‘boring’ is certainly not one of them. After three Prime Ministers, two monarchs and an eccentric billionaire buying Twitter, 2022 is a year that will go down in history.

What mark have we left on the world this year?

Our 2022 Wrapped

It’s School Meals Only!

‘Jack of all trades, master of none…’ I’m sure you’ve heard that phrase – and there’s certainly some truth in it! While we’d love to be able to help anyone out there who needs charity, the truth is that our impact isn’t as strong when we don’t have a clear focus.

That’s why we began 2022 with a laser focus on one thing – school meals.

Brightening More Futures

We’re delighted to say we extended our school meals programme across three countries. In February, we launched in Yemen and for Uyghur refugees in Turkey. In March, we successfully expanded into Afghanistan too.

Check Out Our Figures

This year we provided a jaw-dropping 4,954,519 (almost 5 million!) number of school meals to students around the world, taking them one step closer to ending the poverty trap and creating a better future for themselves.

In Ramadan alone, our incredible Team 365 managed to raise over £600,000 – that will feed 5,000 children for an entire year.

Journey to Everest

Fraz Butt, our Chair of Trustees, valiantly trekked Mount Everest with a group of six  to raise both funds and awareness for Charity Right.

As challenging as the trek was, the group completed it in just 8 days in November, raising a total of over £130,000 to feed almost 900 students school meals for an entire year!

Zohra Sarwari Came Back To The UK!

We’ve been so honoured to host Zohra for her first UK tour since the pandemic – and what a tour it’s been!

An acclaimed speaker, life coach and author, Zohra shared a treasure trove of knowledge to help us become the best versions of ourselves physically, mentally and spiritually. And she even helped us raise a few (hundred!) school meals too, with pledges coming in at over £150,000!

Another Successful Launch

This year also saw the launch of our programme Health, Hifz & Happiness. This lets you sponsor a Hifz student as they learn the Quran, giving them a safe space to live as well as an education that lets them turn their lives around.

Huge Wins in Yemen

We had huge success in Yemen this year – and the numbers speak for themselves.

When our three Yemeni schools broke up for the summer, we supported 3,159 pupils. When they came back for the new term, we found ourselves supporting 5,571 pupils – a 76% increase thanks to school meals over an 8-month period!

This success was recognised on Yemeni national TV, and we were even gifted a certificate from a school thanking us for our efforts!

Here’s to the Future

2022’s been a crazy year for us – in a good way! But we’re not planning on resting on our laurels anytime soon. We’ve got a big year planned for 2023 too…

Firing Up in Schools & Madrassahs

Next year, we’ll be launching a programme specifically for UK schools and madrassahs to get involved in fundraising –  let’s put the ‘fun’ in fundraising!

We’re kicking off in schools with ‘Give It Up for January’, a campaign where students can give up something they love for one day to raise money for school meals. Whether they spend too much time on their phone, eat too many sweets or play too many games, giving it up for a day can help them the same opportunities they enjoy to disadvantaged children across the world.

Inspiring the Future with Omar Esa

We’ve been so grateful to have the opportunity to work with acclaimed Nasheed Artist Omar Esa. He’s become a great way of getting children and schools involved, inspiring the future generation to start fundraising.

Watch this space on the 9th of January! Keep an eye out on our Instagram @charityrightuk.

Stepping Over Hunger

We’re starting 2023 on a high note with the Step Over Hunger challenge, giving you a way to raise money for charity and get fit at the same time – a perfect way to start off the new year!

The best part is that everyone can take part! Participants set their own step goals for the month and find their own ways to reach them – whether it’s by walking to work, going for a hike or taking the dog for a walk. The world is your oyster!

Join the Step Over Hunger challenge

No one knows what 2023 will bring. Perhaps it will be a great year, perhaps not… but one thing’s for sure: we at Charity Right have got exciting things waiting for you – and you’re not going to want to miss what we have in store!
