As a sacred time for Muslims around the world, Ramadan is all about increasing the good deeds and magnifying your rewards.
That’s why we’re delighted present the Ramadan Challenge! Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or just starting out, this is your chance to get active and healthy while fasting and making a difference that lasts generations.
So, What Is the Ramadan Challenge?
Just because we’re fasting during Ramadan doesn’t mean we should be couch potatoes! And who doesn’t love a challenge?
Led by our inspiring brand ambassador Haroon Mota (aka the Marathon Man himself!), we’re inviting you to join our global movement this Ramadan by taking part in any activity you want.
You could start taking a daily walk or pushing yourself to cycle a certain distance each day. Perhaps you’d like to swim 10 laps or smash your weightlifting record. Or maybe you might join a local sports team or start running with a group… the choice is yours!
As well as the activity and target, there’s no specific fundraising limit either – it’s totally customisable! Still, £150 feeds a schoolchild for an entire year… and with Haroon Mota’s support, we can all hit that target, right?
Should I Really Exercise While Fasting?
• Exercising just enough to get your heart rate up releases endorphins; these are famous for making you happier, but they can also relieve stress and give your energy levels a boost, making them ideal for Ramadan.
A bit of exercise is good for the mind too. After all, who hasn’t had a terrific idea when out on a stroll? Even short bouts of exercise are great for improving your concentration and memory, helping your mind stay in shipshape throughout the fasting period.
• It seems crazy that a month of fasting can often result in gaining weight – but keeping active ensures you don’t! When you stay inactive all day and feast on as much as possible during suhoor and iftar, it’s no surprise that some gain weight. But a bit of exercise can help you maintain your weight – or even lose some if you want!
But remember – as beneficial as it can be to exercise during Ramadan, it’s important not to exercise too much. You don’t want to run the risk of draining yourself of energy.
